A Short & Sweet Secret: The Story of “Truffle Trays”
I imagine you love to repurpose silver as much as I do! I inherited some darling, small, round silver trays from Mummy. I wasn’t quite sure how she used them or what their original purpose was, but in the spirit of lovely living, I decided they needed a new life and a new name, so I named them: “Truffle Trays!” (Chocolate truffles, to be clear!)
Have you considered adding a single, decadent chocolate candy to everyone’s place setting for a luncheon or dinner party? I have been doing this for years and love to place a chocolate on a truffle tray for each guest seated at our dining room table. It is a tiny detail, but it is one of my “secret” nuances that I hope makes my guests feel truly cherished from the moment they sit down!
GrandMillennial Tips:
-
The Element of Surprise: Place the truffle tray just above the dinner plate or slightly to the right of the dessert spoon. It serves as a delightful “pre-dessert” or a sweet accompaniment to after-dinner port or coffee.
-
The Right Choice: Select a high-quality, artisanal chocolate. A single, beautiful truffle or chocolate looks far more elegant than a handful of smaller candies.
-
Polishing Matters: Ensure your silver is sparkling!
-
Bedside Chocolate: These are also a perfect size to place next to the bed for your houseguests… for sweet dreams!
Forbidden Faux Pas:
-
No-No: Do not use a tray that is too large for a single truffle. The tray should “hug” the chocolate.
-
No-No: Avoid serving chocolates still in their wrappers, such as Lindt balls or Andes Mints. Always remove the wrapper so the chocolate can be easily picked up and enjoyed!
I hope this “short and sweet” idea inspires you to peek into your own silver chest and see what treasures you might repurpose. Let me know your ideas for presenting chocolate on the table!
With pink wishes and sweet surprises,
Xx
Holly
